OBJETIVO(S)

Objective 1. To create a base line study of the ecosystems services of water regulation and biodiversity at Quebrada Dali watershed. This base line will be focused on watershed water production. Objective 2. To develop an early alert system based on adaptive modeling of the environmental services of water regulation in Quebrada Dalí watershed. This system will be based on watershed and wetlands hydrological modeling in terms of water regulation. We also will integrate wetlands hydrology dynamics with wetland plant phenology. Objective 3. To build local institutional capacities to enhance the long term sustainability of the ecosystem study site at Quebrada Dali watershed. This objective seeks to construct a long term partnership among the institutions members of REDH, Schools located nearby the Quebrada Dali Watershed and Universities. This partnership is needed to provide long term sustainability of the study site.

RESUMEN

Forecasting ecosystems services under potential scenarios based on a local ecosystems study may help institutions to better evaluate management alternatives of natural resources and associated tradeoffs. Besides to the forecasts, the data collected from the study site proposed will improve the scientific knowledge and also the decision making process within institutions. Ecological forecasts strengthen the link between research and management.
